The media room is where the family room gets plugged in to the new technology. It’s a great place to spend time with friends and family, and it should be a comfortable and tempting space. Earlier these rooms used to only be found in a very rich home, however today they are working their way into regular family homes. Folks are now very particular about selecting their iew(‘/outgoing/article_exit_link’);” rel=”external nofollow” target=”_blank” href=”http://www.johnson-johnson.co.uk/coming-soon/coming-soon-media-rooms-a.htm”>media room designs and they prefer enjoying technology by ignoring messy things.

Here are some tips for you if you are going to renovate or construct a media room for your home or office.

Clear the Clutter- The media room designs should be well planned. All of the working parts of the media room should be artfully hidden. By simply placing all your electronic components in a media cabinet that has plenty of storage, ventilation and doors, you can easily streamline the chaos. The advancement in the technology is also a key factor in improving you lifestyle, as wireless systems for speakers and computers have helped to reduce electronic clutter. You will make your room more appealing and safer too by containing or eliminating all of these electronic components.

Suitable contrast of Light & Dark- There should be accurate contrast of light in a media room. There is need of enough light so that when you are not watching a movie you need you can comfortably use the room, however you need to keep glare to a minimum when you are viewing a movie. You can minimize natural light by fitting the windows with room darkening shades and a layer of heavy drapes. By placing dimmer switches to your overhead lighting and keeping shiny surfaces to a minimum also help with excess light reflections.

Audio Upgrades- Heavy drapes on the windows not only minimize the light, but they also help absorb the sound. By your designing your media room with carpets on the floors and acoustic fabric on the walls you’ll be able to minimize sound effects.

Help answer the question about living room improvement

I have a framed rectangular archway between two rooms but want to let more light into the 2nd room? Any?
I am trying to get more light from my sunrrom to my living room which are connected with a archway. The archway is blocking light from the sunroom to the living room. What are the best options to keep the archway but let more light in.
1. Put large rectangular framed holes (like a window opening of 3ftx6 ft) on both sides of the archway to let the light in- customize the frame with moulding to give it a designer type look

2. Make the archway bigger by 2ft on each side to let more light in.

Is there a specific type of contractor I need to call for this? Is there a home improvement term for this type of project. Any help is appreciated??

i love gray and architects inspire me that color, because they are like elegant, classy and like you described it, but you're a lady so maybe you can add like purple or violet details, if you don't like that color maybe soft greens it may look more fresh. If you like minimalism it can be a good option to the sophisticated look you're looking for.

Photo collage of you and your friends/family.
Cut out any size out of thin cardboard. (a cereal box works great)
To make the hanger, punch two holes 1/2 inch apart 1 inch from the top in the center,
(where a hanger is on the back of a frame)
thread the ends of a twisty tie (the paper covered wire used to close bread) thru the holes, turn cardboard over, make a loop and twist the ends together.
You can glue photos side by side or overlapping.
    or a multi-pc frame

After living in the same house all my life and currently living in an apartment while going to college, I'd say that I've always liked the feeling and theme of OPENNESS in houses. Plenty of hidden storage spaces and the feeling that every room just blends into one another is a big plus. I'm trying to convince my parents right now to get rid of the wall between the kitchen and dining room and turn in more into a "breakfast nook" in between the two. Keeping it simple with only a few main colors and small transitions to another room really appeals to me at the moment.

I'm no interior designer, but I hope I helped!
