Laminate is easy once you get an idea on how to do it. All you ll need is a table saw, hammer, possible jig saw.. Read up on it a bit and get a gf who also wants to try it and you ll learn together.. Make it a girls day or two.. 1st 2/3 rows are the most challenging but once you have it started it s a breeze. If it s like you say and a basic room snap all the short ends together for a row including the end cuts and w/ 2 people you can snap a whole row in at once.Pick up a tapping block which comes w/ a tapping bar , it ll come in handy to tap the row in place.. You ll know when it goes together..Tapping block kit 15/20$ and it ll last for years, I ve had mine for years and easily install 100 000 s/f w/ it ..GL

Yes, any home owner can. If the improvement is energy efficient enough. If you use the credit you can't file until Feb 11th.

You can only claim a insulation deduction (new windows, weather striping, storm doors) up to $1000. You can't claim the tax on the car you purchased.

I would say you need to talk to an accountant because you don't want to claim something wrong and the IRS audit you and charge you interest and penalties for stuff done wrong.

Well, I have an annual calendar of home maintenance if that is what you mean.

August/September – empty the hot water heater and drain fully to remove mineral deposits from the elements. Mulch around plants for winter. Change furnace filter.

October- have chimney cleaned. Clean gutters for rainy season. Check outside dryer vent, pull animal guard and clean off lint. Pull out dryer and vent line behind it, clean out lint. Hard prune bushes.

November – Caulk windows, doors, and vents to seal holes and cracks. Weather strip (or check condition) around doors to make sure they are sealed for winter. Clean oven for holiday baking. Clean out fridge and freezer.

December – Inspect and peel caulk around sinks, bathtubs and showers if cracked, peeling or mildew infested. Re-caulk Pull out fridge, change filter, clean coils and behind fridge. Change furnace filter.

January – Clean cobwebs from corners, light fixtures and high ceilings. Have draperies, window coverings cleaned or washed. Clean inside tracks on windows. Clean oven after holiday baking.

February – Plant bulbs. Clean wood work, wainscoting, trim work, doors and moldings. Touch up paint Remove and clean all things that hang on the walls. Touch up paint walls.

March – Check cement and patch cracks. Prepare garden for planting. Clean out garage. Wash kitchen cabinetry, stair rails and spindles, bath room vanities and laundry room cabinets with wood cleaner.

April – Have windows, tracks and screens cleaned. Check trim outside home inspect for cracks, fill and touch up paint. Plant any new plants, veggies and herbs. Put down fertilizer and weed block. Treat yard for pests. Check trees for disease.

May – Remove patio covers. Inspect and make any repairs to outdoor BBQ. Check and maintain garden tools, lawn mower, edger, weed eater, etc. Clean all ceiling and other fans.

June – Clean, inspect and maintain all electronics. Pull them out to remove electrical dust. Clean oven and fridge and replace fridge filter. Change AC filter. Pull out dryer check vent and line for lint.

July – Vacuum all lamps and light fixtures, clean and inspect wiring. Wash all light switches, door handles and fixtures (pulls and handles). Have carpet and upholstery cleaned including pillows.

I do some stuff quarterly like wash pillows, bedspreads, comforters, mattress covers, etc. And you can adjust the chore to the area of the country you live in because I am in CA and some stuff we can do anytime of the year because we do not get a real winter.
