I love decorating my house for every season, I always did it since my boys were little kids. Now they are 21 and 23 and they get home asking when the new decoration will be on. I decorate the whole house during christmas. I even change the pictures hanging on the walls. I put up 3 to 5 xmas trees in different rooms. The traditional one goes in the living room, the informal one goes in the family room. A small one goes on the kitchen counter with cookie cutters hanging from the branches. In the entrance a mid size one uses also traditional decorations and when my kids were small I put a mid size one in every room with decorations they made. I even decorate the bedrooms and the bathrooms.
For valentines I decorate the entrance door with a wreath in a form of a heart full of silk flowers. I change the tablecloth on the dining table to a red one with hearts and I set the table with hearts decorations, since we usually celebrate Valentine's dinner at home. I put red and white candles everywhere, all the small round table are decorated with red or red and white tablecloths. Even the kitchen towels and the apron is changed for every season.
For Easter, I change the wreath to an appropiate one, the tablecloths around the house. I put bunnies and special dessert plates to decorate and I change the decorations on the piano and other tables.
I also change it for summer, then for the "Back to School" season, (I am a teacher) and for Halloween and Thanksgiving. I change towels, aprons, kitchen towels, everything I can it helps me get in the mood. I have collected all the decorations during the years and in discount stores usually off season. I put them away in plastic boxes that are identified with the season.
Try it, it will please you so much you will keep on doing it and adding new things every year.

Your home should be someplace you can come at the end of your day and feel good, especially since you work two jobs. Someplace you can decompress. Our homes are our sanctuaries from the outside world and a haven.

That said, I would keep in mind that even doing one thing in a room, whether you paint it, add a picture, some throw pillows, will make that room look different, and should give you the motivation to continue in that room. I would start out with something as an inspiration piece. If you already own something that will be in a particular room (i.e. an area rug, a poster or picture, pillows) take colors from those things.

Do one thing at a time. It doesn't seem so overwhelming that way. You don't have to buy everything all at once. Make a list of things you'd like, keep it with you and if you see some of these things on sale or clearance, you can pick them up then.

I would also go through those unpacked boxes first. Go through what you do have; see what you can use. If things are just placed in spots to keep them out of the way, just pack them up and store them, or if you don't like them anymore sell them on eBay.

spring is time for spring cleaning so put away everything wintry. fresh, spring flowers always create a very cheerful touch. even opening the curtaing or blinds letting in more light is nice. get some new plants with white or yellow pots. sunny colors say spring is here. even though it's not quite yet. i'm not real into bunnys but if you are go for it. they're cute!!! oh and some tulips they are the most beautiful and daffodils too!!!
i love decorating for the season and do for xmas, halloween, spring/easter, and that's about it.

i go to thrift stores, its amazing what a can of spray paint can do to anything.
think creativly, put random items together but untie them with color,
or buy a bunch of old funky frames and make a collage of them on your wall.
just be open, dont try to go for a certian look, you'll just drive yourself crazy!

Not here, lol…. its a violation of the terms of use agreement to try to use Yahoo Answers to gain customers.

If I were you, I'd remove the links to your site, so the question is about gaining knowledge…. and not be perceived as trying to promote your sites here – which will get you reported.

Now… if you're serious about getting answers, and not just blatantly abusing YA, I'd recommend you try advertising. Use your local newspaper, community website, ebay, Craig List, anyplace you can sell an item, you can put a link up.

    Good Luck

Last Christmas, my 20 year old grand daughter said to her cousin…."Gran's house always looks just the same. I guess when I come here 20 years from now, nothing will be different." I don't redecorate often and I don't rearrange furniture. I figure that I spent a lot of time and money and effort getting it just like I wanted it, and I don't really want to go through all that again. I redecorate when I buy a new house. And I'm not planning to do that any time soon. I'm a shoo-in for an HGTV program of some sort.

paint them. shoe polish is likely to rub off on hands.

i spray painted a brass flower pot with flat black and then rubbed some of the paint off (with a small bit of steel wool) so the brass shows through. it has an aged feel to it and looks great.

    hope this helps.

They do sell spray paint, although, they usually have it locked up because they fear kids will use it for graffiti. I know they sell it at Michael's and A.C. Moore, the craft stores. Good luck!
