Home Décor – Shabby Chic Decorating Ideas to Use Today!

What pieces of furniture and home décor are used in shabby chic decorating? You may be asking yourself this question! Never fear—shabby chic decorating uses worn, stylish items as well as new objects that look old. Thus, you have a wide range of choices in furniture and home décor. The following list will give you ideas to use today:
Floor and Table Lamps – Surfaces that are distressed and/or white are characteristic of shabby chic decor. A floral or solid fabric lamp shade can add just the right touch of color.
Mirrors and Picture Frames – Wood as well as wrought iron work well in a shabby chic room. They may have white or natural, distressed finishes.
Towel Racks – Weathered white paint gives a unique look to this shabby chic home décor piece to use in the bathroom or kitchen.
Candleholders and Candelabra – A white or ivory distressed finish makes these shabby chic home décor items a “must” in your decorating scheme.
Small Tables – Small decorative tables come in various sizes and styles featuring carved wood as a focal point. They may be used as side tables, coffee tables, occasional tables, or hall tables.
Plant Stands – Tiered plant stands add an individual touch to any room and especially to the shabby chic room. They display plants as well as other decorative items.
Beautiful Lace – Lace is perfect to use as curtains or as a valance in a shabby chic decorating plan. White lace can be stained in tea to give it a creamy look. Drape lace over the back of a chair or over the rungs of a coat rack.
Carved Wood and Metal Shelves – These can be found in antique stores, flea markets, garage sales and gift shops. With a little paint, carved wood or metal shelves add a special touch to your shabby chic décor.
This is just a few of the vast assortment of home décor and furniture items that can be used in a shabby chic home decorating plan. Be imaginative and have fun creating a beautiful, unique shabby chic room to enjoy for years to come.

I know of a service that's kind of like that. It costs $250. You take photos of your room & fill out an online questionaire. Then they will send you an actual floor plan model with a furniture layout, paint colors, fabrics, wallpaper, etc. Then you actually do the work yourself.

If I were a marketing manager, the way I would increase the appeal of home decorating to men is by advertising how simple it can be. And about how nice it is to be a bachelor….but, not have to have your home look like you are a bachelor.
I would play up aspects of your stores service personnel. I would stress how helpful and easy they make it for a guy to decorate his place himself….with a little help from them.
And, I would stress, somehow, that it can be a fast and easy ordeal. Men typically don't like slaving over decorating books and spending hours shopping.
They want to get into a store…and back out asap.
I really do like the bachelor angle, though….. Be a bachelor…just don't make your home scream bachelor.
Hope this helps!
Generally, people do NOT want to pay for the time invested for any hand-crafted item. I knit. It takes hours and hours to knit a pair of socks and people don't want to pay much more than the cost of the yarn. I'm not going to do all that work just to give them away so I only knit socks for ME.
Some of the most prosperous decorating themes occur when colors involving equal intensity or even strength are mixed; for example, pastels such as pinks and peaches which have a similar lightness or vibrant colours of red, yellow, and blue that share the same degree.
